Tablet Placement & Synergy Grid

Tablets empower the artifacts next to them. Learn placement, direction, and which tablets to prioritize.

Every level-up in Sephiria lets you take either an Artifact or a Tablet, and most new players undervalue the Tablet half of that choice. Artifacts give you the effect; Tablets are what make that effect big. A Tablet occupies a shape in your inventory grid and empowers the Artifacts it touches — some boost a whole row, some a column, some only what sits directly beside them.

One thing to be clear about before you plan around them: Tablets are part of the current run, not permanent progression. When a run ends, the grid resets. The progression that carries between runs is the Destiny Inscription, which you spend sapphires on after death. Treat Tablets as the strongest lever inside a run, and Destiny Inscription as the lever between runs.

How The Grid Works

Your inventory is a board, not a list. Each Tablet projects its buff into a specific area — the Foundation tablet, for example, has to sit at the top of the inventory to activate, and then levels up every Artifact in that row. Others work in columns, crosses, or only on direct neighbours. Stronger Tablets are often balanced with a few dead squares, so the highest-value ones cost you board space.

Because placement is committed, the game lets you preview before you commit: use Q and E to rotate and test a Tablet’s projected area, and check what it would actually cover before locking it in.

  • Read the Tablet’s coverage pattern before you place it, not after.
  • Leave one flexible area of the board open until your build direction is clear.
  • A Tablet that levels four good Artifacts beats one that levels six weak ones.

Priority Order

Early in a run, take Tablets that raise survivability — Courage, Conviction and Vigilance smooth out the chapters where your build has not come together yet. Mid-run, switch to utility: Preparation and Foundation improve the board itself, which scales everything else you pick up. Late, take specialised Tablets that sit on top of the tag you actually committed to.

Synergy Thinking

Plan clusters rather than spreading out. A defensive cluster keeps your front-line Artifacts levelled, a crit cluster built around Link and Stack serves Precision builds, and an elemental cluster suits caster routes. Fill the board only once the clusters are placed — dropping a filler Artifact into a cell your best Tablet wanted to cover is the most common placement mistake.

Key Artifacts

These items are referenced from our artifact catalog and form the backbone of this build.

Ebony Scale

Gains Critical Chance for every Tablet in your inventory — the clearest payoff for a Tablet-heavy board.

Beast's Heart

Flat Defense per level; the anchor most defensive clusters are built to sit beside.

Absolute Ring

Scales Special Attack Range and Damage, and benefits directly from level-ups applied by Tablets.

Academy Brigandine

Defense plus Grimoire Haste, so it gains from both a defensive and an ability-focused cluster.

Pro Tips

  • Preview with Q and E before committing — placement cannot be undone for free.
  • Keep board space free until your tag direction is decided.
  • Cluster by theme so one Tablet covers several Artifacts of the same type.
